Defying Gravity

These are several examples of what I call "Semi-Levitation". Little kids get a kick out of showing Mom and Dad some "magic" using a safety pin, thread and a small magnet.

If it wasn't for Magnetic Forced these shown below would all fall down.

I found a local source of carbon fiber rods and tubes. Carbon Fiber is lighter than aluminum and stronger than steel. It is non-magnetic and stays straight no matter how much you bend it.

These above are 1/2" dia by 1 1/2" thick Neos caged with 0.060" carbon fiber rods.

Left, 1/4" od by 1/8" id by 1/4" thick Neos on a 0.060" carbon fiber rod. Right, 1" od by 1/4" id by 1" thick NIBs on a 0.210" carbon fiber tube. It is virtually impossible to push the large magnets together.
