This is 2008. We now know alot more than we did then (1920), and we have far more advanced technology than we did then. I think it's time to rethink those answers (the Laws of Physics).

These Laws (of Physics) are outdated. We can overcome these laws. We just have to use our imagination.

The only problem with Laws of Physics is that they are written by humans and humans make mistakes as they do not understand everything.

Remember, DO NOT VOTE for any Politician unless they are willing to rewrite the Laws of Physics.

Lets get one thing straight from the get-go. There is no such thing as a fuel-less permanent magnet motor. Magnets do not produce energy. They have an electromagnetic force. According to those pesky laws of physics, “Energy” can neither be created nor destroyed but can change form. “Magnetic Force” can neither be created nor destroyed nor change form. It can only be diverted.

The "Gauss" is the unit of measurement used to measure the strength of a magnet at it's surface. 10,000 "Gauss" is refereed to as a "Tesla". Both are the measurement of “Magnetic Lines of Flux” passing through a given area. One "Tesla" is about 65,000 magnetic field lines per square inch

The Earth’s Magnetic Field has a strength of ½ Gauss or 6 or 7 Magnetic Lines of Flux” passing through a 1” square. A 1” Neodymium Cube has a surface strength of 6,835 Gauss translating to 44,428 Magnetic Lines of Flux” per square inch.

If 44,428 Lines of Flux leaves the North Pole of a magnet then precisely 44,428 Lines of Flux must return to the South Pole. Dem’s da rules.

If 100% of the Electromagnetic Force is accounted for then there can’t possibly be anything left over to do work. In other words, it could never make anything move continuously.

One snowy Sunday I had nothing to do so I got on the computer and created a 3D Model of a device I call Orbendev. It is a combination of the theories behind the Orbo Scam and the Perendev Scam. Of course I didn't build it, but I can see where a lot of people could believe it would actually work.

When the price of Neodymium Magnets came down to affordable levels the quest to take advantage of the incredible magnetic forces began in earnest. When you consider the number of high school and College/University science students in this world, it is conceivable that a couple hundred thousand of them have experimented with the concept of Magnet Powered Free Energy Machines. Many of these creations are quite ingenious. Some seem to be very close to achieving their objective. A YouTube search of “magnet motor free energy” results in 475 videos showing some of their designs. Many of the videos are preliminary in nature showing their project in progress. "See, it moves this far with only 15 magnets. When I purchase and install 60 more magnets then it will complete the circle and run forever. This I will demonstrate on my next video. I am this close." And that is the last you ever hear from them. Or "See how nice it works in a straight line. This proves that free energy is possible. Now all I need to do is make it work in a circuit. I'll show you this on my next video." Guess what!

Am I the only one on YouTube to state that my "Free Energy" device is a failure? I probably am the only one to build a "Free Energy" device knowing that it couldn't possibly work. I can't believe all the advice I get on how to make it run forever. You will read about my concept below. As for some other designs check out the following.

This one below, despite the poor video quality, is one of the more impressive attempts. It is the "OC MPMM" and is a favorite among intellects as a device with promise. It does exhibit some strange activity. Just possibly......Naa.

Why did he stop it? Here you have a guy who supposedly created some form of a perpetual motion machine that mankind has been trying to do for centuries. You would think he would be too excited to go to bed. Secondly, if he just had to go to bed why did he stop it? Why didn’t he just let it run in the hope that it still would still be running when he woke up?

Update May, 04: Alsetalokin says: "No, I haven't done any more long runs, the seven-hour plus run already reported is the longest.”

Is he saying that he hasn’t tried for long runs or that he tried and failed for long runs? If he hasn’t tried, than that is just against the mindset of a scientist. If he’s saying he tried many times and failed, then I have to question his 7-hour claim.

What is he saying by going through the motion of trashing it? Is he saying it’s junk? In other words, a fraud?

Lastly, Many have tried to replicate the experiment yet no one can claim anything more than a single brief spurt of acceleration.

This is a very common design. The beauty is in the symmetry. Too bad it doesn't work.

In 1996 Norwegian artist Reidar Finsrud created "The Finsrud Wheel", a moving sculpture. It appears to use a combination of gravity, magnets, and pendulum effects to achieve continuous motion.

The steel ball continually runs around the path formed by the 2 concentric circular aluminum tracks. The ball is about 2.7 inches in diameter and the track has a diameter of about 25 inches. You can see one of the 3 horseshoe magnets next to the ball in the 3rd pic.

3 magnets are involved in the mechanism. So far it has run continuously for at least 14 days without intervention. It has been proven that there is no outside energy source affecting the motion. "Reidar says the machine does stop on occasions but that this is not on a daily basis. To start the machine the pendulums are swung by hand. This does puts external input energy into the system." A Google Video shows about 45 minutes of it operating. The video is of excellent quality and shows it in great detail. Is it a perpetual motion machine? Almost. Does it achieve overunity? It seems that the energy required to keep a 2 pound steel ball revolving on a track for 14 days certainly is more than the effort required to set 3 pendulums in motion (a few seconds). Why does it work? And why does it stop working.

In Physics, the First Law of Thermodynamics, AKA, the Law of Conservation of Energy, is the principle that the total energy of an isolated system remains constant despite any internal change. Surely the vast majority of those experimenting with Magnet Motors are aware of this yet continue to try to find that little unknown factor that could possibly make the damn thing work. I'm all for this kind of experimenting. There are lessons to be learned even in failure.

(Sometimes I violate various laws. Occasionally, on a short trip, I won't buckle my seatbelt or I'll answer my cel phone while driving. I enjoy violating the Law of Gravity. See my levitation experiments. But there are some laws that I would never ever violate, like the laws of thermodynamics. My ambition here is to achieve motion. not perpetual motion.)

I decided to try building a magnetic repellant motor. Not to save the Earth or make a zillion dollars, but to study the so called "Gates" that keeps hundreds of thousands of free energy attempts from being successful. I started with a 5 1/4" by 3/4" thick oak disk. I drilled 2 banks of eight 3/8" holes. In each bank I started with the shallowest hole and drilled the next one 1/16" deeper than the previous hole. The 2 banks of magnets keeps the unit balanced. In these 16 holes I set 3/8" dia by 1" thick Neodymium Magnets. All of these NIBs have north poles facing out. Then I set another 3/8" dia by 1" thick cylinder Neo in a cradle with the north pole facing out. All the forces are repelling. There is a skateboard ball bearing at the axle.

Since I don't want to permanently glue 17 nice NIBs in it so I am using a layer of paper towel to force-fit the magnets snugly in place.

Looking at it from this point of view you can see that there is a stronger repelling force on the left side because they are typically slightly closer to the "Rocking Magnet" than those on the right causing clockwise rotation of the rotor. The rocking mechanism allows me to "Jump the Gates" for continuous rotation.

It worked just about as I expected. The 2 "Gates" are definitely there, but they can be overcome simply by rocking the pushing magnet a little. What would it take to make this design work? First you would have to design a mechanism to rock the pusher twice per revolution. Second, a portion, but not all, of the rotational energy would have to convert to mechanical energy to rock the pushing NIB. Enough rotational energy would have to remain to rotate the disk beyond the gate location where the pusher would drop down and accelerate the disk for 1/3 of a rotation before being rocked again to jump the 2nd "Gate". Is there enough rotational energy to lift the pusher twice for each revolution? HELL NO! Still it was a fun little afternoon project and it is neat to keep it spinning by manually rocking the pusher. But I didn't achieve overunity and I failed to save mankind that afternoon. DAMN!

When I set out to build my magnet motor I knew there was absolutely no chance of it actually working as a perpetual motion machine and there is nothing that I (or anyone) can do to it to make it work as one. This has something to do with the laws of thermodynamics. I built it basically to give me the credibility and expertise I thought I needed to blog about Permanent Magnet Motors. I am very pleased with what it does and doesn’t do though. In physics there is lots to be learned from failure, intentional or otherwise.

First off, the design is original in that I created it in my own mind without influence from anything I saw on YouTube or anywhere else. But I’m not naive enough to think that I am the only sole in history to think of the basic concept. The design is just too damn simple.

As of this writing the population of the Earth just passed 6,710,280,205. I don’t think it is unreasonable to believe that 250,000 people worldwide are experienced with magnet motors. That’s 1 magnet motor experimenter for every 26,841 who don’t. In a city of 1,000,000 people, with all its educational facilities we are talking about 37 people who are experimenting with or have experimented with magnet motors. For New York City the number would be 303.

Now surely several hundred of the fore mentioned quarter million magnet motor experimenters have thought of a design that is virtually identical to mine. Most of them seriously thought that their devise had potential and actually worked on an advanced design to manipulate the pushing magnet to avoid the gates.

Every one of them failed to achieve perpetual motion or overunity. If they had succeeded we would all know them as the inventors of the world’s first perpetual motion machine. For me, I'm not going to waste my time trying to achieve the impossible. I have better things to do.

I do like my little toy though. I decided that it's a keeper. I gave the wood a coat of polyurethane, glued the magnets into place and refined the rocking mechanism so it can function using 1 finger. I've gotten it up to a rip roaring almost 30 RPM!!! Check out the video.

I also know that It is a great educational tool for students of all ages. To a youngster it would be magic to make the wheel go round and round when they move the rocker up and down. and without touching the wheel. It could be an experiment they'll remember for the rest of their life. For older students It's a lesson in thermodynamics.

I am constantly getting YouTube comments or e-mails from people telling me what I need to do to convert this gadget to something that will spin continuously without human intervention. In other words a “Perpetual Motion Machine” (which would be worth billions). I recently received an e-mail from someone who said "... if you can find a metal that can direct and canalize this (magnetic) energy we could make a generator that could run a house just by the force of magnets..." I felt I had to send him a discouraging reply.

Obviously you have no comprehension of the nature of magnetic fields. Lets see if I can explain why your ideas can’t possibly work. Neodymium Magnets are bipolar. They absolutely must have both a north and a south pole. Magnetic force in the form of field lines must make a circuit from the north pole to the south pole to be recycled back out the north pole and back in the south pole. Think of it like a battery. You aren’t going to get power until you create a circuit connecting the positive and negative terminals. This magnetic recycling occurs over and over and over again for decades if not a hundred years or more.

What you are asking me to do is find you some form of magnetic shielding so the magnetic forces would act like water exiting a hose. You want the forces to be all push with no pull. If this could be done the magnet would quickly run out of force as there would be no way for the force to be recycled.

If you have been working on the impossible dream for years, you certainly wasted a lot of time. Why does everyone that fanaticized about building a “magnet only powered free energy motor” also dreams of generating 300 horsepower to run a car for free or 30 kilowatts to power a house for free.

The first automobiles ran at walking speed, about 5 MPH, not 214 MPH like a Lamborghini.

The first airplane flight was 120 feet long, not cross-country like a jetliner.

No one to date has created a magnet motor that can sustain motion much less power a 30 kW generator.

A 30 kW back-up generator typically runs off a 1.600 cc, 4 cylinder engine at 3,600 rpm. It would have about 100 hp, give or take a few.

I think it may be just be possible to make a permanent magnet motor. Perhaps static electricity or the earth's natural magnetic field or rotation could be the missing factors. I'll make a prediction here. I predict that if and when a working permanent magnet motor is created it will be very simple and very small involving diamagnetic levitation with Pyrolytic Graphite to achieve a friction free bearing. Magnets will be tiny and power output will be a fraction of a watt. There will be no way that the rotational movement could be converted into usable energy. It may have to be encased in a vacuum chamber and won't be much bigger than a common Crookes Radiometer. It won't be anything the power and oil companies will fear. It will be a much in demand Executive Toy.

Invest a few thousand in my free energy contraption / techknowledgy and I'll make you a multi-millionaire just like Bill Gates did with his investors when he started Microsoft. And we'll save the earth at the same time. Power your house and run your car without using fossil fuels. Never pay an electric bill again. As a matter of fact, the power companied will have to buy your excess electricity from you. That's the law. Get your dealerships early, before the costs go up. Just give me your money. Someday soon I'll let you see what you are investing in. Everything is very secret until I get my perpetual motion patents, after all, we don't want anyone stealing our work. Just give me your money and get in on the ground floor. I'll make you filthy rich as we put the power companies and oil companies out of business. Trust me.

There are a lot of con artists out there looking for suckers for their free energy scams. And there are a lot of greedy investors dumb enough to hand over their money.

The most notorious magnetic motor invention today is Mike Brady's claimed pure magnetic motor "Perendev". In 2003 he released a video of his motor in operation. Millions have seen the video on YouTube and other video sites. Most of them believe it is real. As an outer bank of magnets approached the rotor magnets the rotor starts to rotate rapidly. Today it is obvious that this "Free Energy" device is a total fraud and an outside power source was actually used to spin it. Hundreds, if not thousands of experimenters have tried to recreate it in the 4+ years since the 2003 release and all have failed. Brady has never released any other videos of it in operation. but he has used this video to solicit investment money. To this day he still features it on his website. Every time he promised a public demonstration of his creation something went wrong and the demo was canceled. But that didn't stop him from soliciting more money. I have known Mike Brady since May 2002. At that time, when I inquired about his magnetic motor, he said, "yes the motor is running and almost ready for the market, only the commercial packaging [is] still to be done." You will see below, in a letter soliciting licensing and investment funds, that he is still representing himself and his company as being this far along with the magnet motor.

Only the packaging still to be done? How many years does it take to design a box?

Brady promised for years to post another video of Perendev but never got around to making it. When I want to add a video to this website I go to my studio and get out a project to video. I shoot a video or 2 on my Sony H1. I take the memory chip to my computer and upload to "You Tube." once "You Tube" finishes processing I add it to the site then upload to MagnetNerd.com. Time required, Less than 30 minutes.

When it got to "Put up or Shut up" time Brady tables the design and starts developing "Free Energy" electromagnetic design generating up to 300 kilowatts or more. This is like the Wright Brothers shelving their "Flyer" after the first 120' flight, then building a 747 for a transcontinental flight.

Current products on the Perendev website include a Electro magnetic motor (100kW) leased for 5 years for 24 700 Euro ex tax and Delivery, a Electro magnetic motor ( 300KW) leased for 5 years for 45 800 Euro ex tax and Delivery, an Auto pack--- Please note the auto pack is not for sale to individuals and a Nitrogen motor, not intended for private use and is only supplied to mines for underground ventilation. All the illustrations of the products are computer generated images, not photographs.

To attract more suckers (investors) he makes outrageous claims. "On the nitrogen or compressed air motor we have a major prize waiting for us in the form of a potential order for 50 000 motors (worth a minimum 220million Euro (4,400 Euro each)), South African mines that require our product to power underground ventilation fans that are currently connected to electric power, the problem is that the under ground cables are stolen and then sold for its copper weight. To put an end to this, the mines have decided to replace the current installation and run compressed air to our motors to drive the fans." and "We have the formal letters of intent from them regarding this."

Why does he need investors when he has these "formal letters of intent" from South African Mines? I wonder how long it will be before these deals falls through? How long will it be before Brady is indicted?

An afterthought regarding copper being stolen from the South African Mines. This story is totally Bull Shit. How do they get personnel into and out of a mine? By elevator, of course. How do the get equipment into and out of the mine? By another elevator. Don't you think someone might notice workers exiting the mine in an elevator while carrying hundreds of feet of copper cable? Certainly there is some form of security at the top of the elevators shafts.

Carl Tilley, a Tennessee trailer trash redneck, also had a scam operation that promised "Free Energy". With investment funds he built a shop next to his mobile home to build and test his secret device. His creation was powered by a battery that was to be constantly recharged by his no fuel motor. According to Sterling D. Allan...

Carl Tilley didn't know who he was messing with when he brought Walter Webb into his scam operation that promised technology that could provide endless electrical output with no fuel input requirement. He was able to get Webb to believe his line, and Webb subsequently brought in multiple investors to the tune of $401,000. Seven months he had Webb believing the story.

But now Webb is intent on exposing Tilley as one of the biggest con men of our day; and he is not short of evidence to prove it, starting with an exposé of what is in that mysterious black box. "It is nothing more than a high-efficiency wind turbine being turned by an AC motor," Webb reports, having finally been given a peek inside when he installed it in Tilley's shop. There are no 24-carrot gold wires, no 'circle within a circle' rotating spheres moving in 7 directions at once to harness static electricity, no levitating elements; and the thing will not shock anyone who is in the room if the cover is removed while in operation.

One of the clinchers was when Walter showed up early one day to the shop to find a regular battery charger topping off the batteries that supposedly were being powered by the "endless charger" array inside the shop. He had wondered why there was an orange extension cord going out to the shop from the house nearly every morning, and had not been satisfied with Tilley's reply.

A recent check of Tilley's power bill shows that he is paid as much as $180.00 one month, with an average of around $130.00 per month, which is to be expected, and shows that he is not generating anything of his own as claimed.

I have problems with people who claim they have conversations with God. Why is it that God only converses with preachers in need of money and Joe Newman?

Joseph Newman is a narcissistic clown who has been making a name for himself with his ridiculous contraptions for decades. God has personally given Joe the instructions to build his monstrosities. God also ordered Joe, already a married man, to marry his secretary and her 8-year-old daughter! Can you say pedophile? This is one sick bastard.

JOSEPH NEWMAN, of Lucedale, Miss., says he married his secretary and her 8-year-old daughter " under orders from God." After officials removed the child and her brother from his home, Newman vowed that " God is angry" because the Koran gives him the right to " up to four wives," including child brides. (Mobile Press Register, 3/11/89; Press Register Reporter) Is Joe a Moslem who is targeting Christians for donations and investments?

Early gadgets used a ceramic magnet rotor weighing 600 or 700 pounds and a stator comprised of 50 miles or more of copper wire. His motor weighed over 3 tons. Newman applied for a patent on his invention and the theory backing it in early 1979. The U.S. Patent office refused to grant a patent on Joe’s “Perpetual Motion” machine. Joe took them to court to make them give him his patent. The court ordered Joe to submit the gadget to the National Bureau of Standards for testing. This pissed Joe off.

At the request of the Patent and Trademark office, and in accordance with several court orders, between March and June 1986 the National Bureau of Standards conducted tests on a device submitted for testing by Joseph Newman. The efficiency ranged between 27 and 67 percent (after correcting the test data for measurement offsets) not 100% plus as Joe preaches.

The government has tried to stop his invention because officials are controlled by payoffs from the oil industry

The latest version of the machine is more energy efficient than ever before because of a “new scientific principle that God has given me in the past four months”

The machine uses a negligible amount of energy as a catalyst to harness energy in “gyroscopic particles inside atoms”

It will cost between $25 Million and $100 Million to obtain worldwide patents and manufacture the device

If God wants Joe to make his gadget for the betterment of mankind, why doesn't God finance the project?

Recently this self-proclaimed “Best Scientist in the World” made one small enough to power a small car, a classic 1971 MG, which runs at a whopping 4 miles per hour. That’s right, a 1,900 lb car going 4 mph, walking speed. I know a 120 lb. woman who can push that car 4 miles an hour or faster. I wonder how it handles going up a hill. The circuit for the car contained sixty-eight 250 Volt batteries, made by Rayovac, connected in series, which delivers 20 milliamps at 17,000 volts, for 340 watts.

If he wanted to prove his point, and get his detractors off his back all he has to do is run the car continuously for a week or more. But Noooooo.

In 1979 Newman applied for a patent on his energy machine. In almost 30 years Newman has developed no practical applications for his creation beyond the 4 mph car. He still pays his local power company for the energy to run his house. He still buys gasoline to run his vehicles. And he keeps finding suckers to invest in his fraud. Enough about this joker.

Sean McCarthy is the CEO of Steorn, an Ireland based company that claims to have invented a perpetual motion machine called "Orbo".

McCarthy as conned investors out of millions. To play the roll he drives around in a Porsche. In July 2007 McCarthy was to hold a 10 day public demonstration live over the Internet including 4 "live web cameras". Of coarse this was never to be. According to the BBC, "Unfortunately, there was a technical defect, attributed by Mr. McCarthy to the excessive heat produced by lights used to illuminate the device so that cameras could stream pictures of it in action across the web." So apparently it works, but only in the dark so you can't see it run. Right!

Looking at the photo I see one basic problem. It is too damn simple. It is something I could build in my studio in less than a day and for less than $20.00. The principle is simple and construction is simple. It certainly doesn't look like the results of years of development and millions of dollars of research. If this thing magically worked, how much energy do you need to spin a 1/2 oz. disk? How do you extract the extra energy and use it? Are you going to need to get 20,000 of them running to power a car? 100,000 of them for a house?

The number of high schools and colleges/universities with science programs in the world is in the hundreds of thousands.
The number of science teachers in the world is in the millions.
The number of science students in the world is in the hundreds of millions.
The number of science students who have graduated from high schools and colleges/universities well exceed a billion.

Don't you think that at least 1 of them would have come up with this design before McCarthy? In reality, Many certainly did, but since it didn't work there was no reason to publicize it.

Even my first concept of a magnet motor is similar to Orbo in many ways. And I only spent an hour or 2 to design and model this.
Of course I never built it.

The gadget is called REMAT, an acronym for Rare Earth Magnetic Amplification Technology. It seems that Richard Brace is a very creative writer. To bad his field of expertise is “Fiction”. Brace bragged about his invention stating that he hired a Professional Engineer who observed it to be “greater than unity”. Unfortunately, it was a freak event that lasted a few seconds before efficiency dropped to 70%. He neglected to state this in his press releases..

Later he published press releases stating that GMC was negotiating with several nameless companies to sell the technology for an estimated 300 to 500 million dollars. 96% of this to be distributed to the stock holders. This enabled them to illegally sell another $2,000,000 in stock.

On February 22, 2008, the Securities and Exchange Commission filed an action against GMC Holding Corporation (GMC) and its chief executive officer, Richard Brace, for defrauding investors by issuing false press releases touting the company's development of a motor technology device capable of generating unlimited energy and negotiations to sell this technology for hundreds of millions of dollars. The Commission's complaint further alleges that these false press releases enabled GMC and Brace to raise more than $2 million from investors through illegal unregistered offerings of the company's stock.

The Con Men talk about their 30 kW or 100 kW or even 300 kW generators. But what does it actually take to power these generators. I did a quick Google search to find out.

A 30 kW backup generator was powered by a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder in line gas engine.

A 300 kW backup generator was powered by a 6 cylinder in-line, 4 Cycle Turbocharged, 449 horsepower Diesel. This is similar to a semi truck engine.

Hypothetically speaking, if Magnet Motors were possible, how many, and what size, magnets would be needed to produce this much horsepower?

A real, dedicated Magnet Motor Researcher does not solicit investors or offer dealerships. If he is a student he may borrow a few hundred from friends or Mom and Dad to buy more magnets but he won't ask for thousands from strangers. If anyone asks you to invest in a "Free Energy" device, JUST SAY NO!
