"Rocking Magnet Lifting Tool"

The “Rocking Magnet Pick-up Tool” not only allows the safe handling of magnets from 1/2" up to 2", it actually makes it easy. It also minimizes the damage to expensive magnets from chipping or breaking. It is constructed of Red Oak with Brass hardware. and is finished with polyurethane.

I wanted to know just how much force it would take to move my largest magnets using my “Rocking Magnet Pick-up Tool”.  I have a few 2" by 2" by 1" thick N42 block with a pull force of 325 lbs. First I needed a serious piece of Iron as a test bed. I went out and bought a 25 pound, 1.05" thick Iron weight disk from a local sporting and fitness store (Dicks). Using digital fish scales I pulled on the device and it continually "broke suction" between 24 and 28 lbs, averaging about 25 lbs. This is the equivalent of the pull force of a 9/16" cube (26.40 lbs). (I can remove a 9/16" cube from the 25 lb weight without sliding it, but it takes both hands and I can't consider it easy.) Once clamped in place it takes only 1 hand to use and that hand is well away from the danger zone. I can't tell you how pleased I am with these test results. Check out the video.

The gadget can also be clamped to a surface to provide a stable platform for magnet experiments.
